The Friends of St-Joseph’s Manor

In 1996, the Government of Quebec closed the St-Joseph manor and wanted to sell the building. However, a group of citizens from the region formed a non-profit organization “The Friends of St-Joseph’s Manor” and an agreement was negotiated with the Quebec government to rent the building for 25 years, therefore, making us tenants of the building situated at 24, Reid Campbell’s Bay, for the past 20 years.

In 2012, The Friends of St-Joseph’s Manor took over from Pontiac Respite Services for the day-to-day management of the facility and since April 9, 2014, it is also recognized as a charitable organization, and this, in accordance with the provisions of the Taxation Act (section 985.5R1).

In June 2016, the Quebec government offered to sell the building to the Friends of St-Joseph’s Manor for the amount of $1.00. The Friends accepted the offer and officially became owners of 24, Reid Campbell’s Bay on April 4, 2018.
